This is a very unique political poster created as a "get out the vote" effort for the 2020 election cycle. The art show was titled "Good Trouble " in honor of the late great senator John Lewis, known for his advocacy of social justice and civil disobedience of unjust law and duty to protest. It was a street art style poster art show hosted by The Center for Contemporary Political art in DC, and Robert Krauss (journalist for the Washington Post who survived the Jonestown Massacre). Participants and artists were encouraged to print these posters and display them in public spaces street art style as a form of "good trouble". Paste ups were displayed...illegally.. or.. willingly in windows and storefronts etc.
In 2020 I went on a road trip from St.Louis Mo to DC, posting these as wheatpaste posters in St.Louis City, Cincinnati Oh, Dayton Oh, Xenia OH, Pittsburgh PA, Chareston WV, Louisville KY, Baltimore MI, DC and other cities in between.
The art show did get some publicity from DC publications..but for the most part this unconventional art show is little known. I think that makes these posters that much more unique! I thought others might like the opportunity to have a print that commemorates that time in history, as well as the senator who inspired so much good trouble 😉
*Artist Signed open editions (not limited)
*Various sizes available
* actual printed posters have jmavrosart.com logo removed
Here's a few links to some media about the show if you're interested:
